This week's edition of The Flash Drive, was a regular edition of the program, featuring listener requests, ranging, from instrumental marching band songs, to a triple play dedicated to a well-known artist, who hasn't been doing well in the health department lately. Even this week's Save, or Delete, and 80's and 90's Artist Spotlight, were also instrumental, which, just worked out that way in the end. Also, there were some rain requests, which inspired me to play a few more rain related songs during The 80's and 90's Hour. Finally, there was another round, of the Beat the Intro contest, which Herbie Allen won this week, but his chosen prize album, will be played next Tuesday on The Flash Drive, during The 80's and 90's Hour! The Variety Party For June 12, 2026

This week's edition of The Variety Party, I already knew, before even building the playlist, that the show would be getting extended. Not only did I have requests held over from last week, that were pushed back to this week, but before I could even begin to put the playlist together earlier in the day, my request line voicemails were blowing up like crazy! However, the craziness continued, even after I got on to the air, but I have to say, this is the first show I can recall, where every call came into my request line, while a set of music was playing. At least one call was still in progress as a voice break began, but no calls came into the request line, while I was talking, so it made it, somewhat, mysterious, as more music was getting added to the playlist, at least, from a listener's perspective. I even had some new listeners, and some listeners who hadn't tuned into my show in quite a while! With this mix, it was sure to get chaotic, but amazingly, I never lost Internet, nor did I have any trouble, finding everybody's requests. There were also no dead spots in the playlist, making the show sound nice and smooth. I even received requests from Herbie Allen's Lady A speaker, who also had a talk with my former artificial intelligent cohost, Lady C, who was actually on her best behavior. The Life of the Party Segment featured an Original vs. Sample that I was reminded of on a recent episode of Nick's Musical Memories, after requesting the sample, and the requests consisted of cover comparrisons, and same title, different songs, that sent me down rabbit holes, exploring what other songs, had the same titles. I also talked about what I've been up to lately, and The Flashback Hour, explored the, same title, different song, angle in more depts, as well as featuring some summer favorites. In the end, the show ended up going an extra 2 hours over the normal time slot of 3 hours, totaling 5 hours in its entirety, and while I was exhausted by the end, I had a lot of fun, putting on the program. The Flash Drive, Motown Special For June 09, 2026

This week on The Flash Drive, since we were one day shy, of Herbie Allen's birthday, and recalling how excited he was, when I did a Motown Special on another station a couple of years ago in the fall of 2024, I decided, to do this theme, on The Flash Drive, on the eve, of The Grand Master of Fuzz's, special day, AKA Upgrade Day, as I like to call it. I played plenty of material released on the Motown Records label, between the 1960's and 1990's, and featured a 90's cover, of a 60's Motown classic, for Save, or Delete, where I had to play tie breaker where the votes were concerned. The 80's and 90's Hour, also stuck to this theme, featuring some long songs from the early 1980's, and Stevie Wonder was the 80's and 90's Artist Spotlight, where I managed to educate Herbie, as he had never heard the song from the 90's that I played, and I have to say, I am rather, impressed! I didn't think educating The Grand Master of Fuzz, when it came to musical content anyway, was even possible! As for why this show went an additional 30 minutes past its normal end time, this is because there was no Country Through the Years, directly following this program, and I did receive some requests for some material not released on the Motown label, so saw to honoring those, and wrapped up the show, with one of my favorite post Motown songs, by my favorite female artist, written, by another former Motown artist, who is no longer alive. I would have extended past that and gone the full 3 hours of the time slot alotted for Country Through the Years, except I was feeling extremely exhausted, after having a long day, that lead to me eating mini corndogs and drinking Coke throughout the first hour of the program, and needed to get off the air and lie down. So that's what I did post the show's conclusion, but aside from being exhausted at the end, I had a lot of fun putting on the show, and perhaps I'll do another Motown Special, either on this program, or The Variety Party, in the distant future. The Variety Party, Slumber Party Fiesta, Featuring Top Gun, And Peabo Bryson Tribute For June 05, 2026

This week on The Variety Party, it was a Slumber Party Fiesta edition of the program, where I featured the movie, Top Gun, as chosen by Monty, as his prize, for winning the latest round, of Beat the Intro on The Flash Drive. He chose this movie, since it turns 40-years-old this year. Also, perfect timing to run this movie, since we are only a week shy of when I aired the sequel, Top Gun Maverick, last year, back on June 13, 2025, also chosen by Monty as a prize, for winning Beat the Intro. Post tonight's movie conclusion, I did a tribute to Peabo Bryson, who sadly passed away earlier this week, from complications of a stroke. He was 75-years-old when he died. Out of the 6 songs that were played in his memory, 4 of them were chosen by Monty, while I chose the 2 songs that started off the 6 pack tribute. All-in-all, it was a very good show, and while it flew by, I had a lot of fun putting it on, and am very glad, I had a relatively easy playlist to put together, since I took a long nap this afternoon, cutting into my normal playlist prep time.
