The Flash Drive, Special, Featuring Reunion By The Temptations, And Forrest Gump Soundtrack For September 08, 2026

Today's edition of The Flash Drive, was a special show, where something happened, that has never, happened before on the program. As far as what was featured on the program, it began, with the album, Reunion, by The Temptations, that Herbie Allen chose as his prize, for winning the latest round, of the Beat the Intro contest, during last Friday's makeup edition of this show. I played the cassette version for the first 7 songs on the album, and then, played the CD, to feature the 2 bonus tracks, that are only available on the CD release of the album. Once the album concluded, I had an extended 80's and 90's Hour, which covered the rest of the program, and featured the movie soundtrack, as chosen by the listeners. This week, it was the double soundtrack album, of Forrest Gump. As a result of the Temptations album taking up the first hour, and the Forrest Gump soundtrack taking up the last 2 hours of the show, not only did I not have any room for requests, but for the first time ever, since I initially premiered this show on MCBVI Radio back in early January of 2025, I did not, do, a Save, or Delete! I also went into overtime, doing the closing voice break and disconnecting The Flash Drive on one of my private servers, since the last track of the soundtrack, ended, at 2 minutes past 6 PM, and I didn't wish for the show following me, to start any later than that. I also started 5 minutes early, so I could squeeze in a promo that was roughly 5 minutes in length that's never been played on my shows before, and even starting 5 minutes earlier than usual, didn't keep me from having to go into overtime. I also had a tiny bit of buffering at the start of the program, but thankfully, that ironed out and the show was smooth once that calmed down. I had a lot of fun doing the program, and thanks to having such long sets with albums and such, it gave me time to finish my lunch, and clean up from lunch too. The Flash Drive, Makeup Edition Featuring The Body Guard Soundtrack For September 04, 2026

Back on Tuesday, I didn't feel well, having to cancel The Flash Drive. However, not wishing to get behind, especially with this month long series I have going on, I decided, to skip a week of The Variety Party, and use its time slot, to do a makeup edition, of The Flash Drive, featuring, what I would have played, back on Tuesday. This show featured, plenty of listener requests, with some room for me to squeeze in a few tunes I wanted to hear, another round, of the Beat the Intro contest, and I totally thought Monty was going to be the winner, but nope. Thanks to him blanking on the artist of the song, Herbie, who knew the artist and title right off, thanks to it being one of his favorite Country songs, sent in his answer, before the clip even finished playing, making him, the winner! He chose an album as his prize, requesting for it to be played on a future edition of The Flash Drive, so once I have figured out when it will best fit, announcements will be made, as to when it will air. There was also a Save, or Delete, picked out by a listener, who also had a birthday today, and, nobody liked it. Everybody, including yours truly, wanted it, deleted. Finally, The 80's and 90's Hour, featured, the first movie soundtrack, which, I had to choose, breaking the tie on the poll. In the end, I ended up playing The Body Guard soundtrack, while closing out the program, with my favorite song, off of the Back to the Future soundtrack, the other one, that tied up the votes on the poll. It was a good show, even if towards the end, I realized how strange it was, to do this show on a Friday. This week on The Variety Party, I played tons, of requests, including several requests held over from last week, when I ran out of room in my playlist. They were all, Country requests, giving me the brilliant idea, to slightly fool everybody, and make them think this was The Country Cafe at first, but quickly correcting myself. I also played a song I had to cut out of last week's show, that was most definitely on both, the strange, and humorous side, bringing up another theme that briefly ran through this week's show. Songs that people thought were strange, in particular, people who answered this icebreaker question at the Daily Schedule ACB Community Zoom call I attended back on Tuesday morning. There was also a Same Title, Different Song, during this week's Life of the Party Segment, related to summer, and inspired by a request I sent into Nick's Musical Memories, earlier this summer. Finally, I nott only, received requests for songs related to beer, the beverage of choice, personally picked, by my listener, Nick from Santabarbra, and Herbie Allen sent in some novelty leftover requests that he didn't have time to play on his show last Sunday, and as a result of me not finding the correct song, there were 2 songs in my playlist, by the same artist, but only the second one, was correct, and it was more interesting than the cruddy cover I played originally, but Dolly Parton recently passed away back on Tuesday of this week, making it necessary, to give her a tribute, featuring 6 songs, requested by Monty, and 4 songs towards the end of the program, that I just had to play, as they are favorites of mine by her. One of those songs, even closed out the show, and between the songs I picked, and Monty's requests, we not only, had Christmas in August, but Easter in August too. I also got to talk about my week, mainly focusing on the issue I dealt with concerning Tweesecake and Mastodon, that took up my Friday morning, and delayed me in getting started on preparing the playlist for the program, which while I was able to eat dinner before the show, cleaning up from dinner, didn't occur, until after the show concluded. The Flash Drive, We Remember Aaliyah, 25 Years After Her Passing, Tribute Special For August 25, 2026

With today's edition of The Flash Drive, falling, on the 25-year-anniversary, of Aaliyah's unfortunate and tragic passing, and since Monty won the latest round, of the Beat the Intro contest, he gave me the idea, of doing, a tribute special, to remember her on this day. So I featured, Monty's chosen prize album, Age Ain't Nothing but a Number, Aaliyah's first studio album, released in May of 1994, along with songs from her other 2 albums released in 1996 and 2001 respectively. One of my favorite songs she ever did for a movie, was featured, as this week's Save, or Delete, and was well received by the majority of the listeners, and finally, this has to be by far, the first show I can recall, where I purposely, eliminated, The 80's and 90's Hour, to feature the very well-done, and emotionally moving, Behind the Music documentary on Aaliyah, that was released on VH1, not long after her passing, all those years ago. It was a very good show, I enjoyed putting it on and remembering an upcoming musical R&B superstar, that was taken from us, way, too soon, and who's death could have been prevented, if she had just, been a bit more patient, and waited an extra day, to head home from the Bahamas. Even crazier? 25 years after Aaliyah passed away, another famous female artist passed away, though this one was to be expected, given this woman's age. Dolly Partin passed away on August 25, 2026, at age 80, but I'll pay tribute to her, on the next episode, of The Variety Party. This week, on The Variety Party, I put on a typical show, but boy, did my requests grow exponentially large in size, relatively quickly! Not only that, but all of the requests that came in, even after the show got under way, were all for songs, released, after 1975, meaning they wouldn't fit in The Flashback Hour. For this reason, I had to bump all 3 of Christopher Maddock's requests, and 2 of Monty's sister Misty's requests, to next week's show, but given that all of the requests that didn't fit this week's playlist, are all, for Country songs and Country artists, they'll all fit nicely together, in a Country set, to kick off next week's program. My update talking about my week, was once again, short, but not because of a power surge this time, but because, of how many songs and how long the songs were in the first set. I did manage to play the requested, Original vs. Parody during The Life of the Party Segment, and 2 of the requests allowed there to be a Same Title, Different Song, in tonight's program, and while I picked all of the tunes for The Flashback Hour this week, I picked some tunes that listeners hadn't heard in a while, as well as the preferred version of a song that never should have been covered in the 1980's, and, a lovely soul set where half the songs were covers, that would nicely fit into a Covers Edition Soulful Side, of Nick's Musical Memories. And while this never got mentioned on the air, I have emailed Nick Baker, with that show suggestion, time will tell, if my suggestion is considered, and shows up in the fall of 2026 on one of his Soulful Side editions of his show. The program flew by, ended on time, and was overall, perfect, even with having to take scissors to the playlist at times, but I had a lot of fun putting on the show, and I hope you enjoy it, as much as I enjoyed broadcasting it.
