The Flash Drive Special, Featuring The Album, Tuckagee, By Lionel Richie For July 28, 2026

This week, on The Flash Drive, in honor of having 2 winners, of my festive Christmas in July round, of Beat the Intro, on last week's show, Monty, and Herbie Allen, who both guessed the title and artist of the song, sharing the prize, because one of them, correctly guessed the title, while the other, correctly guessed the artist, they agreed to share a prize, and chose the album, Tuckagee, by Lionel Richie. His last studio album to be released in 2012, featuring updated versions of songs he released in the 1970's and 1980's, both, with The Commodores, and as a solo artist, now redone, as duets with various Country artists. This album was played in full, taking up the first hour of the program. Post its conclusion, the rest of the show featured, Save, or Delete, and several requests that were sent in beforehand, some of which, were held over to this week, because they didn't fit last week's Christmas in July theme. Amongst the requests, there were, a Compare the Difference, as well as, a Same Title, Different Song! Finally, during the 50 minutes that took up what ended up being the slightly abridged, 80's and 90's Hour, I featured Kenny Rogers, as this week's 80's and 90's Artist Spotlight, since he performed with Lionel Richie on one of the songs on the featured album. Though to be fair, the artist featured as today's Save, or Delete, also performed with Lionel Richie on the featured album as well. The show flew by, way too fast, but it's no surprise, given that one third of it, was taken up by an album. I did have a lot of fun putting on the show, and was very glad to be inside, since there were thunder storms and a heavy downpour occurring, during the final hour of the program. Once again, it was time for my non-traditional Christmas in July Special, of The Variety Party. I can't believe I've now done one of these, 4 years in a row! As you will plainly hear during this show, it remained to be, quite popular with the listeners. Put it this way, I chopped out quite a bit from my playlist, to make room, for requests, as the program progressed. I even had a ghost drop into my studio speaker during the final hour of the program. While there wasn't a Flashback Hour this week, there was, The Life of the Party Segment, featuring a 3-way Compare the Difference, requested by Santa Claus, sometime earlier this year, as he left a message on my request line a while back. I had a lot of fun putting on the show, but one thing's certain. There are too many good non-traditional Christmas tunes, and more than what will fit into a 3 hour program. The Flash Drive, Traditional Christmas In July Special For July 21, 2026

As it's the week leading up to July 25, 2026, it was time once again, for my Traditional Christmas in July Special, of The Flash Drive, where I very much, stuck to the show's format, and played tunes that very much fit, the traditional Christmas tune genre, with a few that could cross over into non-traditional Christmas territory, depending on how you look at them. The show got off to kind of a rough start, and this year, I swear, some listeners, failed to get the memo, as I received requests for non Christmas songs that I couldn't play today, and will therefore, be pushed back to next week's show, airing on July 28, 2026. The festive round, of Beat the Intro, also proved to be challenging, but in the end, I ended up with 2 winners, because one listener, correctly guessed the title, while the other listener, correctly guessed the artist, and since this was the rare time, where these 2 particular listeners, were visiting one another in person, I had them decide together on a prize, and they have chosen an album, which will also be played, on next Tuesday's edition of The Flash Drive, airing July 28, 2026. I did have several traditional Christmas requests, but some people who usually send in requests, didn't send in any, giving me a bit more room to play a few more songs I wanted to hear. Save, or Delete, won unanimously, taking a look at a Country cover, of a popular novelty classic from the 1940's, and The 80's and 90's Hour, not only, featured me using Christmas themed talk beds released within those 2 decades, but thanks to a suggestion from Herbie, I did a Christmas 80's and 90's Artist Spotlight from an artist that I've previously done for a non-Christmas themed 80's and 90's Artist Spotlight in the past, as well as, a Same Title, Different Song, that was very much, early 90's, and late 90's where this one was concerned. Overall, once things got ironed out, I'd say about 2 thirds of the show, if not the second half of the program, went very smoothly, I had fun putting it on, and the listeners, seemed to enjoy the festive material being presented. The Variety Party, Slumber Party Fiesta, We Are The World Special For July 17, 2026

This week, on The Variety Party, it was a Slumber Party Fiesta edition of the program, featuring the prize, as chosen by Monty, for winning the latest round, of the Beat the Intro contest on The Flash Drive. He chose the documentary, The Greatest Night in Pop, released on Netflix, it tells the story of the recording, of the song, We Are the World, by U.S.A. for Africa. Initially, following the documentary, which took up slightly over half of the normal alotted time slot for this program, I was going to play one song, from every artist and group, who was involved, in U.S.A. for Africa. However, I had over 2 to 3 hours of material on top of the 96 minute documentary, putting me into overtime territory, had I gone through with it. As of late, this program has regularly been going into overtime, so much so, that I'm feeling tired, and wasn't in the mood, to go overtime tonight. So in the end, I abridged that second half, giving a sample of who I felt, were the most important artists and groups to have contributed to U.S.A. for Africa, and I gave my thoughts of why I chose what songs from each of them that I put into the playlist. I closed out the show, with the song, We Are the World, by U.S.A. for Africa, and I did mention, that down the road, I will have to do a part 2, minus the documentary, where I just feature, every artist and group who contributed their voices to We Are the World. I'll also make sure to do a show like this, when it's a garantee that people will be around to listen, when summer vacations and blindness conventions, like ACB and NFB, aren't going on. I had fun doing the show, but I would have enjoyed it more, had I not been too tired to go into overtime, and do the original plan of featuring everybody featured in U.S.A. for Africa, in material they had done prior to recording that song, in January of 1985. I still kept to material released prior to January of 1985 in the second half of the show, just, dwindled it down, to fit the last hour of the program is all.
